VPN is the easiest and most effective way for people to protect their internet traffic and keep their identities private online. It's not free.

Wi-Fi sometimes is fast and reliable but most of the time it is not. Most hotels, restaurants, and public places have free, easy access. Now, security is the major issue here, it's easy to intercept your data.

Roaming data from your cell phone provider is probably the easiest way but doesn't work all the time and can be really expensive. To share your cell's data with a computer, you'll need to connect via Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth, this is called Tethering and can result in a slow-down data connection and it'll drain your phone battery.

Mobile Hotspot is a small device to carry your internet wherever you go, not free, you have to pay for the device and data plan or either buy the device and just pay for a monthly data plan. this one is a portable hotspot internet access, meaning you need to connect it to available Wi-Fi

Sim Card is another option depending on which country you are traveling to. You'll need an unlocked phone for this one and to share with family you need to create an internet tethering connection.
